On Tuesday evening 16th July, our Run Leader and Club Captain Chris Roberts led an inclusive Fartlek Training Session for all abilities in our local park, King George’s in Bloxwich. The 1 mile long perimeter path was divded into three segments A, B and C, each approx 1/3 mile long. From A to B, runners were encouraged to run at their personal 10k race pace. From B to C at a faster 5k parkrun PB pace. C to A was taken at a slow recovery jog.
Runners warmed up by jogging the 1.5 miles from Sneyd to the Park and cooled down afterwards by jogging back to Sneyd via a slightly shorter return route after which cool down stretches were completed by everyone.

Sneyd Striders proudly supported the remembrance of Operation Overlord, known as D-Day, 80 years ago on June 6th 1944. Thanks to Short Heath ‘Lest We Forget’ for organising the event which saw teams of 8 people setting out from 5 different canal locations to represent the 5 landing beaches in Normandy and running 10 miles along the towpaths to finish at Lane head Bridge, our Pegasus Bridge and rendezvous at our Cafe Gondre, aka the United Kingdom Inn, Short Heath for a welcome drink, warm and dry after a very wet run! With each team of 8 running or walking 10 miles, each team completed a total of 80 miles, the distance from the Normandy Beaches to Pegasus Bridge over the Caen Canal.
